Princess Genevieve (Barbie) and her 11 rambunctious sisters are "hardly proper princesses." Their widowed father, King Randolph, calls them "the wild bunch," so he summons his cousin, Rowena (the voice of comic royalty. Catherine O'Hara) to teach them etiquette. She has something more sinister in mind. It's Footloose in a fairy-tale setting, as Rowena forbids the girls to dance and sing. But the girls get to cut loose when they discover a portal to a magic world where they can dance to their hearts' delight. But they must get their feet back on the ground and harness "the power of 12" to foil Rowena's plot to take over the kingdom. There is plenty of magic here to enchant young, starry-eyed Barbie fans and aspiring dancers. There is a chaste romance for Barbie and the humble but brave royal cobbler. Three talking animals -- a plucky cat, a wisecracking parrot, and Rowena's pet monkey -- supply the comic relief.

Now, in order to help their father and ensure that the family stays together, Princess Genevieve and her sisters must join forces and rely on the strength of their family bond to help them get through these trying times.

Wow! Another great job from Mattel!!!!!!!
Okay, this movie is superb! I loved all the sisters and the dancing....... I also thought the birthday song was super cute! I wish they could sing it all, I would have made it a tradition later in my household as well!!!!!!!!!!! This is byfar one of my favorites. Its right up there with my other favorite, The Princess and the Pauper!!!!! I hope they can make a sequel to this and add some more sing with the same amount of dancing!!!!!!!!!

i really loved the movie!! i wish i was barbie i love her a loooooot and i wish i was one of the princesses especilly Geneivieve! oh but your movie was great! congrats from me!

Best out of all barbie movies
That movie took me places, amazing! Beautiful music theme at the beginning with the flute. The animation was good. I liked the 12 princesses, they seemed very pretty. Through the whole movie I wish I was one. I'm looking for the soundtrack now. I think my favourite princesses were Blair, Courtney and Genevieve. I hope that barbie comes out with another movie like this.

Another Great Barbie Movie
If your child likes the other Barbie movies, she/he is going to enjoy this one too! I actually enjoyed watching it with my two kids. A lot of ballet dancing is incorporated into this movie.

i love all barbie movies but this one doesnt seem that great. if it has a lot of dancing i dont know oh well their was dancing in nutcracker and swan lake.
Also recommended: all barbie movies all bratz movies and the new polly pocket movie.
